Welcome to the team: Sheela Gautam: Our Eco-Harmony Co-ordinator

The Eco-Harmony Coordinator at Mukti Music/Raga Monsters is a visionary leader passionate about harnessing the power of music to address climate change and advocate for social justice. This role requires a deep understanding of both environmental issues and the transformative potential of music as a tool for social change.

Note from Sheela:

Growing up in a middle-class family in India, I learned the art of "reduce, reuse, recycle" not as a conscious choice but out of sheer necessity. Hand-me-downs were the norm—clothes, bikes, everything found new life in our home. This upbringing instilled in me a deep-seated value for resourcefulness and a creative approach to repurposing before discarding.

As consumerism surged, so did the tide of one-time-use products. Yet, the seed of upcycling had been planted within me, waiting for the right moment to flourish. That moment arrived during the difficult COVID-19 pandemic days. While challenging, those times offered a rare opportunity for reflection. I found myself pondering what truly matters and the impact I want to make on the world.

Watching David Attenborough's “Planet earth” documentary was a pivotal moment. It crystallized the urgent need for environmental action, highlighting the consequences for future generations if we fail to act. Reflecting on my family's minimal waste output, I realized the power of conscious consumption and the importance of extending the lifespan of the products we use.

I want to learn more along with like-minded people on how to take care of our environment. Together, we can make a difference, one mindful choice at a time.
