Ramya Shankar, the visionary behind Mukti Music, created this transformative platform from a deep love for connecting people through the power of sound. Believing wholeheartedly in music’s ability to heal, uplift, and awaken the human spirit, she set out to build a space where individuals of all ages could experience connection, joy, solace, and self-discovery through musical expression.
Born into a family of musicians, Ramya was introduced early to the enchanting world of Carnatic music. Years of rigorous training under eminent gurus shaped her classical mastery and deepened her understanding of ragas and talas. As her artistic curiosity expanded, she ventured into the expressive realm of jazz—falling in love with its improvisation, harmony, and emotional freedom.
The seamless fusion of these worlds became her signature: a soul-stirring blend of Carnatic depth and jazz fluidity. Her distinctive voice and ability to move effortlessly between genres have earned her acclaim across global stages, marking her as a Grammy-nominated artist and a celebrated member of The Recording Academy.
Beyond the spotlight, Ramya is a devoted and inspiring music educator. Through Mukti Music, workshops, and masterclasses, she nurtures young musicians, encouraging them to embrace tradition while exploring new artistic pathways. Her work empowers students to find their unique voice and discover the healing potential of music.
Today, Ramya’s journey continues to be a story of bridging cultures, preserving traditions, and creating new, harmonious expressions of sound. Her vision through Mukti Music remains simple yet profound: to help every individual experience the beauty, freedom, and transformation that music can bring.
