Sangeeth Sanga

Sangeeth Sanga: a welcoming space for seniors to connect, share stories, and celebrate music and memories together.

Have you noticed how a song can transport you to a specific chapter of your life—childhood, youth, love, or becoming?
Sharing these moments with peers who can relate strengthens emotional bonds, awakens the brain, and cultivates joy and belonging.

How It Works

1. Join or Form a Group
Be invited to an existing group or create your own pod of 2–4 people.

2. Gather biweekly a week for a 45-minute session.

3. Listen and Share
Each person brings a song, chant, or piece of music—or simply a memory connected to one.
You may share what it evokes for you, or simply listen.

4. Reflect and Connect
Talk about the feelings, memories, or moments the music brings up.
Build connection, presence, and quiet joy through shared listening.

PS: This is a non-profit, community-based venture, offered in the spirit of connection, wellness, and shared humanity.

Please Note

This is not a bhajan or singing class.
It is a listening and sharing circle.

A song, chant, or piece of music often triggers a memory or feeling—joy, comfort, nostalgia, healing. This space is for listening, remembering, and sharing.
The music can be from any genre—film, classical, devotional, folk, jazz, pop, or something deeply personal to you.

There are many wonderful bhajan classes already.
This offering is different.

Our Story

Our founder Ramya Shankar’s parents, Sankar and Geetha (Sangeeth), instilled a deep love of music in their family—a passion that has now passed down to so many people. Although Sankar is no longer with us, the love of music he nurtured and his connection to it continue to inspire us. We finds joy in fostering connection through music and has created a space where seniors can come together, share memories, and connect over Zoom once a week, keeping the spirit of musical community alive.

Music is not only a source of joy and connection but also has profound effects on wellness. Studies show that it can reduce symptoms of dementia, improve mood, and enhance cognitive function. By bringing seniors together in Sangeeth Sanga, we create an environment where storytelling, shared songs, and musical engagement support both emotional and mental well-being, allowing participants to reconnect with memories, feel included, and experience the transformative power of music.
